Since 2001, Mr. Argente is an independent VENTURE CAPITAL professional working on seed investment origination, syndication and management. Mr. Argente deploys his expertise gained as an international management consultant for over 15 years to disruptive technologies, which he sources from research-intensive universities.
Mr. Argente's key investment criteria are: primarily, technologies that have applications for consumer mass-markets and, secondarily, Mr. Argente's own ability to contribute to market entry and revenue growth organically or throuhg M&A.
In 1999 to 2001, Mr. Argente was an ENTREPRENEUR and built a 200+ professionals group of companies in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Mercatela provides internet-based communications strategy, IT & web services implementation to blue-chip companies throughout Asia Pacific.
From 1985 to mid-99, Mr. Argente was a MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT reaching managing partner level responsible for group P&L with leading international firms such as EDS/Electronic Data Systems (Hong Kong & China), KSA (Asia Pacific ex-Japan), CSC/Computer Sciences Corporation (US, Asia Pacific) and Gemini Consulting/The MAC Group (Hong Kong, Europe, US & Mexico). Mr. Argente’s consulting work was in a number of industries: manufacturing / light industry, financial services (investment, private & commercial banking), consumer products/food & beverage, entertainment, new technologies. Mr. Argente’s consulting work was in two core areas:
1. Strategy development at corporate, line-of-business & product level with emphasis on growth and corporate development –all based on thorough analytical work.
2. Operations improvement: supply-chain, IT for business transformation, business process re-engineering (BPR), and turnarounds of distressed assets.
Mr. Argente gained a Master of International Management at the Thunderbird School of Global Business in Arizona, USA in 1983. Prior to that, Mr. Argente had obtained a BA in Business and an MBA degree from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, where he also did a 2-year internship working part-time in accounting and external audit with Grant Thornton International. Mr. Argente is fluent in English and Spanish, and conversational in French. |
